Microbiome Scientist | Veterinarian | Ecophylogenetics | Bioinformatics | Statistics | Data Analytics & Visualization

I am currently a Postdoctoral Associate in the Sharpton Laboratory at Oregon State University.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Microbial Ecology and Bioinformatics from Oregon State University in 2021 from the Sharpton Lab. My dissertation research focused on organizing the world's microbial information through use of evolutionary information contained within the microbial tree of life. In this way, we are able to determine how groups of related microbes are distributed across case and control samples in health and disease.

I obtained my M.S. in microbial ecology and machine learning from University of Oregon in 2013 in the Green and Coney laboratories. I obtained my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University in 2020 and completed an internship with an emphasis in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care.

I run a small consulting business called BalancedAxis, LLC, which provides clients strategies, statistical help, and study design to be able to link the microbiome to diverse study covariates. Outcomes include prioritization of those microbial members which are the best candidates for further exploratory studies regarding bioactivity of the study system of interest.
